Default Do I need a fuel pump upgrade?

Hey all, my car currently sits at about 400rwhp (full bolt-on + Vortech V2), utilizing an SVT Focus fuel pump. I just put in some blower cams and am about to schedule a re-tune but just realized that I, perhaps, might run into some fuel issues?

How much power can you make with the SVT pump? I don't want to drive halfway across the state for a tune just to be turned away because I couldn't push enough fuel.

Thoughts? If I indeed do need more pumpage, is a Boost-a-Pump an easy fix?

I hear that pump sometimes works for 400-450 and then I hear some people have problems with it below 400 hp so it depends.

I think a BAP would be good if you are having fuel problems. Do you know what your fuel pump duty is at now from your last tune?

The SVT Focus pump delivers 185lph at 60psi; that's about 300lb/h.

If you assume a BSFC (Brake Specific Fuel Consumption) of 0.6lb/HP; which is the general "rule-of-thumb" for f/i apps; then that's 300 / 0.6 = 505fwHP at the crank--with the pump flat out...

Figure in an 80% duty factor and a "safe" design limit is 400fwHP.

At 90psi the SVT Focus delivery drops to 143lph, 234lb/h, 390fwHP flat out...

I think that means get a bigger pump lol. I think a BAP would solve your issue...but I'm no pro so we'll see what others say.
