Default Stalling probelms - 02 GT

Ok, so here's the deal...

I own a 2002 GT and it runs fine around town and on extended trips on the highway. However, lately I've encountered problems with the car in traffic. It seems that whenever i get stuck in traffic for more than 10 to 15 minutes the idle jumps between 800 and 200 rpm and the car will occasionally shut off. Also, after stays in traffic the car doesn't seem to perform as usual in first and second gear; i.e. i have to continually keep the rpms up with the accelerator or the car will die.

I replaced the idle sensor about 3 months ago and that didn't solve the problem. Any ideas on what could be causing this situation? I'm thinking it could have something to do with my exhaust system , I have a non catted X pipe.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check the Mass airflow sensor and for a vacuum leak.
