Default speedo slow to move

Hi everyone, got a strange question here. My '98 gt's speedo is slow to move from starting off. It doesn't register speed until I hit about 20mph, then it will jump up and register speed fine. A little frustrating in a neighborhood where the speed limit is 10. Any ideas as to the cause or fix? Appreciate any help, thx.

have you installed aftermarket guages?

i have had 2 problems with my guages when i first installed them.

1) i used a spray adhesive to stick the new guages to the stock face and some of the glue got on the needle. until i was going it read zero because it was glued to the little stop pin until it had enuff force to pop free. take your guage cluster apart and clean off that little stopper with rubbing alcohol and a q tip.

2) the added thickness of the guages my RPM and speedo needles would stick until the dash lights were on enough to warm the glue up a little bit or something. so i pried the speedo and rpm needles up about 1mm and they never stuck after that. try prying the needle up but before you do, get on a long empty road, go 50mph or something and hit cruise control. make sure your needle is still on 50 after you pry it up a little bit (you can use a dinner fork to pull them up a tad).

The guages are factory. maybe a good reason to upgrade to some newer ones. The cluster packages on american muscle look sweet. thx for the reply.

My speedo was slow to move, then I put a supercharger on it and it moves really fast now. Oh sorry not the same problem.

I meant replace the whole cluster package, not the overlay. Hmmm, supercharger, sweet.
