Default How to take out manual transmission: 2003 Mustang GT

I've got to take my tranny out and fix her. Whats the best way to do this? Take the engine out, then tranny from top? OR pull the tranny out from the bottom?

I think I pulled the shifter forks out. My tranny only goes in 1st, 3rd, and 5th, while 2nd, 4th, and reverse do nothing.

Take it out the bottom.Take the crossmember off to get to the top 2 bolts easier. Its fairly simple to do, no need to pull the whole motor out.

Underneath. If you don't have long tube headers that have to come off first it is relatively easy.

Thanks guys!

Also, Do you guys have any idea of my problem? I took off kinda fast in 1st gear, and I then tried to shift into 2nd, it wouldn't go in 2nd. The top gears seems to work fine (1st, 3rd, 5th) and the bottom gears (2nd, 4th, reverse) They wont go into gear, if you hold the shifter where 2nd, 4th, or reverse would be, you can hear a slight grind like when you try to put your car in reverse while driving.

My buddy who drives a manual f-150 has experienced this problem and has suggested to me it was due to my shifter fork coming out. Does anyone have anymore insight on this, and what it involves to fix it? I am really tight on cash at the moment, so a new tranny is not looking so good, as I am hoping I can fix the current one. If it helps its a 2003 Mustang GT Transmission, TR3650
