Default overheating

Hey guys im having an issue with the car the car overheats but only in stop and go traffic. Ive noticed that the fans never come on even when i put the Ac on full blast. I checked the fuse. I also notice this part looking dirty but not sure if this is the problem

bump sorry this is important this is my only car and i cant drive it if its overheating. Somebody must have an idea what the roller thing is, and what could be causing it. The car almost stalls out too when the Ac is on if that helps.

what is that in the photo and where did u find it? what was it attached to?

As for the overheat problem yes if the fans arnt working then that is ur cooling problem they should come on at idle with the a/c on.
-Can u spin them by hand with the engine off?
-Unplug the connector and use an ohm meter to check the resistance of the motor circut.
-With the a/c on at idle(before the car gets too hot) do you have power at the fan motor? if you do then the motor (or the ground circut) is the problem. Replace the fan.
-If you dont have power there find get a wire diagram and jumper power to the fan to make sure it works. then figure out why they are not coming on
If you can do the above take it to a shop!!!!

thanks watman for the response. It came from the fan shroud it was some sort of sensor that ended up being the problem. Everything seems to be working fine

The big green part is the voltage dropping resistor for low speed fan operation, the smaller thingy is a thermal fuse (non-resettable) that cuts the power flow if the resistor overheats.
