Help me understand gear options
Ok, I've noticed 3.73 and 4.10 gears up for sale on AmericanMuscle. What's the difference and what does the car come with?
I'd rather have lots of lower-end power, I'm not interested in top speed, so which is right for me?
Also, I've never changed gears before, but have experience on just about every other type of mechanical operation you can imagine. Is this something that an experienced shade-tree mechanic can do himself? What is involved in changing these gears?
Thanks.

For fuel mileage, if you drive like an A$$hole, then you will see a loss of fuel mileage. But if you use them to your advantage, you can shift much earlier in the rpm range than before and you will be able to keep it in 5th more, so really you shouldn't see a loss driving it that way. But, I drive like an A$$hole most of the time so i can't say for sure.
As far as noticeable difference....ya. Like WHOA. It is the ONLY mod I have done that is actually REALLY noticeable with the Butt Dyno...

yea it will feel alot quicker and it will pull harder though your entire rpm range. 4.10 are deff. good for the street and dare i say it "street racing/drag." my girlfriend has 4.10 in her gt 5speed and they are beast. rule of thumb is 4.10auto 3.73fivespeed. because with the 4.10 i know my gf is at about 2500-2700rpm's at 70mph. but for just street 4.10 are the way to go. as for install i would not attempt it, one lil misalignment and your ****ed, a shop can do it for a good price.
