Brakelights, cruise control stopped working
my turn signals, brakelights, and cruise stopped working yesterday. all fuses are good. i replaced the brake switch thinking it was that but it didnt fix the problem. i took the multifunction switch out and tested it, it tests out good.
i noticed the connector on the multifunction switch was a little burnt so i disconnected the harness and tested for resistance across the wires and everything was good. could this still cause it to go out even though there's still a connection through the wires??

Snap...Cliffyk has a plethora of shop manual diagrams with this information...
I cannot foresee everything stopping working all at once out of the blue without a cause of some sort. My buddy's 01' F150 did this and it turned out to be an issue with the switch in the steering wheel for the cruise control. Try Starting the car, hitting the off button on the steering for CC and seeing if your brakes and whatnot work again. My guess is that they all share a common ground, not necessarily a common power source, but that is only a guess. You could PM Cliffyk, he may be able to help.

Ford sells a repair kit for that harness.. Its a common problem on explorers and whatnot. (With the car sitting still, and running) hold the wheel tilt lever in and move the wheel up and down while hitting the brake pedal. If the lights flicker then that connector is most likely the issue.

BTW waggs I still have the same Michelins out back, they seem to be lasting pretty well considering the amount of beating they take. Good tires for sure, no wonder they are so damned expensive lol. I kinda chuckle because i see my wheels in your sig, and with your car color they look completely different than on my car!
