Squeeking noise while accelerating at steady speeds....
Hey guys, sorry for posting another "noise" thread. i drive a 2002 gt auto all stock except for flowmasters.
Since yesterday i've been hearing this faint squeeking noise while i'm driving. I have to be at a steady speed and at about 1500 rpm. Once i let off the gas the noise goes away. Sort of sounds like a warped rotor but it doesn't make the noise unless i'm on the gas.
Oh and it doesn't do it at idle. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
thanks

Where is the sound coming from spatially? Front or rear? Is the "Squeak" a constant tone, or does it vary up and down, like...squeak squeak squeak squeak or squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeak until you let off the gas?

Can't really tell where its coming from. But i'm pretty sure its not coming from the front end.
Its a constant squeak squeak squeak. Tone doesn't really change.
The noise isn't too loud, i can only here it when i'm on a quiet road or driving next to a barrier or curb (window down). Goes away once i'm off the gas.

So i had a couple friends listen to the nosie.
-one said : drive shaft since it only happens while i'm on the gas at about 60 km/h which is about 40 mph and you can't hear it at idle.
-my other friend suggested a bad wheel bearing. But then wouldn't it happen at all times when the car is moving ?? just like brakes rubbing.
Do either of these make sense ? bringing the car to my mechanic in a couple days. hope its nothing serious. thanks

That's just plain weird...
Shot in the dark scenario here:
Bushings in rear suspension are shot, and when you apply the throttle, it is rocking the nose of the differential upwards more than it should, and the drive shaft is rubbing on something? hell I dunno...

Thanks for the help devongarver.
Had my mechanic take a look and he said that the sound is so faint that it'll be hard to diagnose. I'll have the rear suspension checked and my u-joints maybe. I guess i'll have to wait for the noise to get louder...... . ??

Just got the car back from the ford dealership. They took the driveshaft off and inspected the u joints. They said that everything looked good. So, now i'm back to square one. I thought it was definitely the u joints. I guess now at least i know my ujoints & driveshaft are ok.
what the hell else could it be ???
