I dunno what's up with my mustang lately. First it was the window problem now is this. I noticed that when I start my car the (automatic) shifter won't move into drive or any other gear from park gear. I press the button on shifter but I can't move it.

When I turn the car off then I can move shifter but as soon as I turn the car or turn the key all the way up (radio turns up all lights come up in dashboard) the shifter handle won't move from park gear.

The weird thing is that I let it sit for about an hour and it works but then it starts again. I do noticed that if I put my ebrake it happens more often.

2003 mustang GT Automatic.

This is how I drive my car now: I move handle to neutral then I start car and I shift to Drive I wanted to ask will this mess up my car?

okay I tried it and I noticed that if I park and put the ebrake I can't move the shifter. If I don't put the ebrake on everything works?

is the ebrake the problem?
