What kind of difference should u expect out of an aluminum drive shaft?

It lowers the rotational mass which equals faster acceleration.

+1, which with an otherwise unmodified '97 means a VERY subtle, perhaps not even noticeable, change...

I wouldn't sell one if I had one, unless you'd like to recoup the $$, it's one of those "every little bit helps" things. It's also something like a lightweight flywheel that is going to have its greatest impact only under hard acceleration.

If you don't do that (most of us don't while on the street, many owners never get anywhere near a hard WOT run up to 6k), you will never feel any difference.
