Default Changing Fuel Filter?

Have changed it before on my 5.0 but not in the 01. Is it pretty much the same or do you have to lower the gas tank? Thanks for your time, and appreciate any help

Regards,

Alexander

your gonna need a flat head screw driver (or 8mm socket and ratchet) to loosen the hose clamp holding the filter on and a 5/16 quick connect tool for both sides of the lines. The filter is cake its right in front of the tank.

What's the quick connect tool? Are thy the like the clamps that are used on all the hoses under the hood where you can use pliers? Sorry for all the questions, just can't find my flashlight to see what I'm up against.

Thanks for you help

I think he means a fuel line disconnect tool...which you will need. It's just a piece of plastic and it's cheap to get at any auto store.

Yeah, you really should use the tool. It's like $12 from an auto parts store. The Fuel Filter is really easy to swap out, just don't get the fuel all over your face. This video really helps:

i needed one on my car. i tried it without one at first and bent the old filter. i even tried to make a jig rigged tool and i still couldn't get it. the cheap plastic disconnect tool did the trick.

Removing the fuel filter is a PITA... It either comes right off for me, or it fights me til the last tug... But definitely get the disconnect tool..

You guys dont have the right tools if it fights you. You leave it tight on the hose clamp, you remove one line at a time, then loosen the clamp and presto! fuel filter swap!

I have the metal tool! Sometimes it comes right off, sometimes it fights.
