exactly... Like I said it's not for the track by any means unless it's a one pass a year type of deal. Just want something to help me stand out. You would figure piecing it together wouldn't be better but it seems like it is??

Go with a forged and balanced bottom end. You will def save money piecing it together like soldier, but if you choose to go this route, do your homework and make sure parts have the same tolerances/will work together. I will say that it is nice to buy a kit already together for convenience and times sake, but that's up to you.

There really isn't a "best manufacturer" when it comes to cranks and whatnot as there are several companies that make dependable and durable products. I wouldn't bore it out or anything like that and would change the rings to some performance ones since its a cheap upgrade, your in the engine already and since you'll be running boost its not a bad idea due to the added cylinder pressure.

If you've been told that a stock bottom will hold up under boost, it might, but more than likely wont. Ive seen some that have, but we get more in the shop needing motors or bottom ends due to a supercharger on a stock engine. Thing is, if you build it up now, it will handle the boost. If you don't build it and just slap a supercharger on the stock engine, when it blows (and it will) it may end up costing you more than if you had just built it to start with anyway (it will cost more due to the damages of the stock bottom end coming apart and messing up the block and suchlike.).

In my opinion, if your going to boost it, do it right and save yourself a ton of money and heartache.

i put a intercooled 2.1 L kenne bell with 9 lbs of boost on my 99 mustang when it had 105,000 miles on it . it has 114,000 on it now and still runs unbeliveable.i have ran down the 1/8 mile track by my house 20 times or so with no trouble. it has the kenne bell chip and made 408 rwhp on the dyno, the sheet is in my garage. best time in the 1/8 was 8.29, this is my every day driver. i say do it , you wont be sorry. by the way i just picked up a block that i am haveing a forged and head work done so i can put the 14 lb pulley on and not have an problems. i want to go faster and be able to drive home from the track, not on a flat bed.i wouldnt be affraid to put a kenne bell on if i were you, should be safe if your not gonna be crazy.
