Default pi engine horsepower vs npi with pi heads

Im trying to figure out if I should rebuild my engine (96 gt)and put Pi heads on it or just get a rebuilt 1999-04 pi engine for $2200 with a 3 year waranty.

My main question is how much more power does a npi engine with pi heads make than a stock pi engine. I know that the npi will have more compression with the pi heads but I wonder if I should go that route or just buy the stock pi engine with the warranty

Im not looking to go crazy with money but im willing to spend about $3000.
I really dont want a used engine unless its veru low mileage and even then you dont know how it was treated.

stock npi engine=215hp
stock pi engine pi heads=260hp
stock npi engine, pi heads with stock pi cams,pi intake=?hp

You need to see if your bores are worn, most likely they are not. Get new rings, bearings, oil pump and a gasket kit and you are good to go for about $500 not counting labor.

if ur spending 3000 bucks on a stock long block, it would be hard for me to not buy an MMR short block.

I would love to but how more would it cost to get the same power?

I have been looking at thier long block for $4500 but al it has is stock pi heads and stock pi cams, wouldnt it make the same power as a npi block with pi heads?

yes.... in actuality maybe a little less if you lower the compression for future boost plans.

but the internals are forged. will take 500+rwhp all day long.
