Depending on price differences, I would just stick with a stock replacement. When mine goes I will prob go stock since my car is a DD and I only have a tb/plenum, midpipe/CB and CAI. The only other thing I will go is a tune MAYBE for a good while.

If a good aftermarket one is $50 more or so than stock, go aftermarket. Otherwise you know a stock one will a good fit for your application.

IMO

Anything but Spec. They suck. KK would be perfect for you but if you have the 3650 not the T45 then as you say, it won't fit your transmission. Centerforce would be my recommendation.

Recently I installed the RAM "Musclecar" clutch from Summit Racing (don't let the "Cobra" part trick you, it's the same size clutch as the GT). It's their house branded RAM HDX kit.

I've got 1000 miles or more on it now and am very pleased, they claim it to have 30% greater "gripping power" than the OEM clutch. You can feel that in the pedal pressure at first however I got used to it quickly...

On a basically stock GT, what makes a good clutch? I can see getting a better clutch if you are pushing power in which the stock clutch will slip...but as far as simple bolt ons, a stock one should suffice. Other than clamping force do people generally get an aftermarket clutch for quicker engagement?

My buddy has a stage 2 in his Mach 1 and I (haveing a stock one) find it hard to drive his car lol The engagement is almost half the distance of mine lol.

Not putting down the idea of it, just curious.

I have never been a supporter of installing more "clutch" than is needed in any vehicle, and for a GT with a stock bottom end that means any clutch that can handle 450HP is all you could ever need.

As to the stock clutch I did find that at the 260/300 power level the OEM unit could be persuaded to slip, and/or engage a bit mushy, in hard 3rd and 4th gear shifts. There was evidence of this visible on the disc and flywheel.

The RAM clutch (+30% more clamping force per their claim) does not slip or mush at all, not even one little bit...

I know I wouldn't want a stage 2 type of clutch. I feel I would have to be "on top" of every shift and couldn't shift lazy/relaxed. Hell I noticed having to be "on top" of shifting with the IAC mod.
