Default Cam Selection for auto. . .?

Hey everyone, how goes it?

Well I have a 99 GT w/ about 50k with the auto, and the time has come for me to do my cams and headers... What are you guys having luck with for cams in the autos? I've been looking at the comp stage II's, but was wondering what everyone thought.. I'm looking for something to give me a decent power increase, but with fairly nice driving characteristics for the daily stuff, I don't mind if the charachteristics change, I just don't wanna be getting into a cam where ALL the power is all 5500 RPM and up, because I will be driving the car on a few days a week basis. So what do you guys suggest, and why?

As for headers, I've read that the BBK's don't fit the auto's... Are there any other brands that don't fit?

The plan for the car is:
as far as drivetrain

Chip to hold my nitrous tune, and a custom daily tune.
Full exhaust (headers, mids, cat back)
Cams
4.10's
Intake
100/125 shot.

I know with the N20 shot people are going to say, do a Nitrous/blower cam, however I won't be spraying all that often, Just wanna have it on hand for those crazy urges and for the track if I ever make it out.

So what are you guys having good luck with?

Thanks,
Justin

When I purchased my cams I called Comp Cams and spoke to a guy by the name of Mike. He really broke it down for me and the cams that he said I should go with, were just what my car needed!! Nice Lop and most def an increase in HP...

Mac LTs will fit autos, that is what I run and have zero problems with them.

As far as cams, I really think there are better cams then the Comp cams for our cars. I would take a look at www.modularheadshop.com and look at their stage 2 N/A cam. With that Stage 2 cam I have been reading that most people are shifting around 6300 and no power loss down low. With only a 100/125 shot you can get away with a N/A cam instead of a nitrous cam.

Yeah i run a 100 shot with MHS stage 2 n/a cams, and it works great. You don't need a "nitrous specific" grind with a small shot like this.

How do you like those cams? I've been really thinking about saving up for them since I heard they are the best cams with a good amount of PTV clearance to get...

They are perfect for what i was looking for. No drivability or power loss down low, pull strong to around 6300 rpm, sound great for what they are, and work fine with the stock valve springs with safe ptv clearance.

Awesome....do you have an idle vid by any chance?? I tried searching on youtube and there is one in a 98 GT with a PI swap so I donno if the higher compression changes things...

Here's a small clip. Mind you i have a catted h pipe with straight through style mufflers. Because of that it has more of a deep/bassy lope than the traditional choppy sound that you might get with a o/r pipe and chambered type mufflers.
