Default Going to be servicing manual transmission & rear end, have some questions.

Ok, I've read in some places that the manual transmission in the New Edge Mustangs takes ATF, is this correct?

I've also seen someone just using Synchromesh and Lucas stabilizer.

Also, for the rear end what should I be filling it with? I've read that you need to add friction modifier, does Autozone carry that and if so what brand/type should I get?

Thanks.

I believe its 3.2qts of ATF.... I hear Mobil 1 is smooth shifting stuff.

For the rear, you'll need 3 bottles of 75-140. Depending on the brand, friction modifier may or may not be needed. I always run the motorcraft fluid with a small 4 oz bottle of their modifier.

for the tranny: (2 bottles of syncromesh) ~1/2 bottle of lucas, 1.8 bottles of syncromesh.

for the rear end:

I got all this stuff at advanced autoparts. Im sure autozone carries it too. make sure you buy a pump for the rear end, you need it and will not be able to do it without it.

yeah its the only friction modifier they had at advanced. used the whole tube, just added it into half a bottle of RP and mixed it together to pump it into the pumpkin.

Whats the point of adding an oil thickener to the trans? And I though the royal purple max gear oil already has friction modifier in it?

Thought friction modifiers was only used for rear ends with limited slip to help on the clutches?
