Default A few questions to help making my decision

Ok I found out today that my 2002 mustang gt convertible most likely has a bad syncro for second gear. This shop has been intown for years. We were looking around at rebuilding it but the prices were nuts. Ive done a few tranny's my self (older muncies and 2 hondas) but Im figuring I dont even want to try and crack open my TR-3650. The shops around here havnt even rebuilt one. My question is 1 of two things My friend has a 2003 mustang cobra that he rolled over messed the whole car up Im sure the only thing good is the drive train since we can still start it and limp it around he said he would sell it to me for $4,000. I know its the 4v motor and 6speed tranny the car only has 56,000 miles. Could I drop that motor and tranny in my car and the ecu and call it good with minor wirring. Or would I have to take out the whole wiring harness off the parts car and use it? If its not possible my number 2 thought was if the 6speed would bolt up fine part off the cobra. Only problem is my car has 146,000 miles on the motor. Thanks again guys.

The best an easiest option is to swap over the drivetrain, all wiring, and ecu from the cobra over to you're car. It would be an easy but time consuming swap considering you have a complete donor vehicle. If you want to just swap over the t56 trans, jazzer the cat has a write up on the swap not exactly a direct swap but doesn't seem to difficult.

Thank you So the whole wiring harness would have to come out of the cobra? They dont have the same ecu plugs? I was woundering if it was a deal were they ecu plugs were the same I would just have to add a few pins and run a few wires to some sensors.

Well the connectors are generally the same, but the problem is some of of the wiring would have to be extended and some sensors added. It would be far easier to just swap over the engine harness considering you're already doing a motor swap anyway.
