cams and springs
So after researching several cam choices I am still wondering why some cams require new springs and others don't. It seems that most, but not all Stage 2 cams require you to replace the stock springs, but most Stage 1 cams do not. I have even looked over cam specs and really can't see what would require the spring change, not that I know what I am looking at. So if someone could school me on why this is and what the specs represent would be great!

A reliable, street able car that will give me good power throughout the power band with a noticeable idle. I am not looking at building a race car, just something fun to drive on the street. I really don't want to change the springs if I don't have to. That is why I was confused as to the difference in the stage 1 and stage 2 cams. Some say you HAVE to change the springs others say you don't depending on what stage you go with.

Modular Head Shops Stage 2 cams would be perfect for you then. Don't need to change the springs, it will have a noticeable idle, no power loss down low and more power in the midrange and top end. mrtstang will you tell he is running them now and loves them.
