centri blowers do not "kick in" at all. They build boost as the rpms rise. Starting around 2500-3000rpm when full throttle you will start to see boost pressure (1psi) and it will build more and more pressure as rpms rise.
I am not the most knowledgeable about turbo setups, but I know the rpm where you will reach full spool depends a lot on the choice of turbo size and the impeller designs. Once a turbo reaches full spool, you should make full boost pressure from there until redline.

You are always " in boost ", but my Novi 2000 kicks in like a mule with my 373's at about 3000 rpm, and there is no drop off at all, all the way to redline. Red line comes up really quick in 1st and 2nd, I am into 3rd gear in less then 5 seconds.

I appreciate the feed back. The reason i was asking was because i read a mustang magazine that said the boost did not come in until 5k rpm. Maybe they meant that was when the boost was at its peak. They were using a procharger.
