Default Suggestions on lightening the car up

I am sure a few lose weight comments are going to roll out but once we get past the funny what have you all done in this area? The gross weight is 4000+. I was thinking a carbon fiber hood and trunk. Any other ideas?

What the heck do you have on your car to make it 4000+ pounds? New edge GT only weighs around 3300 pounds without driver.

Gross weight is not the weight of the car. Its called your gross vehicle weight rating which the weight if the car plus your load and towing capacity/allowance. The curb weight is the weight of your car. Which i believe is somewhere between 3200-3500 tops with you in it. As far as lightening use the search. There is a bunch of threads on it. Most common things are rear seat and spare tire/jack. Theres a million things you could do depending on what your doing with the car. Most of them are free and just include removing stuff. So tell us what your goals or purposes for you car are and than we can help you out. CAuse it could go from just the rear seat and spare to all seats except the driver obviously, interior, door internals/panels/windows.

Take out the back seats, A/C unit, put the battery in the back to even out weight, Take out stereo, speakers, carpet, swap to light weight rims.

you have to pinch here and there to get a big number and even then its not that big of a number and often not worth it unless its a track car.

Okay that sounds more like it. Thanks for the schooling. My goal is actually fairly simple. I do not drive hard often but I do like to play in the California twisties a little bit so I would like a little bit of handling weight removed. I have the rear seat delete, the spare out and jack out. I was thinging of a tubular K Frame, Some carbon fiber on there as well. I would like to get it to around 3k if that's the case.

Well idk anything about carbon fiber stuff honestly. THe tubular k is a good choice and maybe some tubular a arms up front and some coilovers. Other than that i mean if you really wanted to get crazy like i said the passenger seat would probably be your nextbig thing as well as the a/c and relocating your battery and from there its the interior which does really sound like what you wanna do lol.
