so i was wondering where the turbo spool sounds comes from. i know that it is the turbo spinning up and making boost but what im curious why some are louder. is it cuz they are maxing out a smaller turbo or is it a larger turbo just spooling up? im sure there are other factors going into it i just dont know what they might be
turbo spool sounds come from one of the gods. same as kb whine. nobody knows where it comes from but it exists, and puts a huge smile on everyones face when it is heard.

That made my day..
I'm the one who goes around doing my best impression of a twin screw any chance I get. lol
Correct me if I'm wrong anyone. Most of it is from the compressor, The "louder" has a lot to do with a external wastegate, venting to the atmosphere. VS Internal that recirculate.

I'd guess that it partially comes from the amount of air your moving through a tube as well as the fact that a centri blower can usually be pushed to around 60K rpm and I think turbos are even higher.
