cluster question
im looking at getting a new instrument cluster, when i plug it in would it read my mileage or the mileage of the other car, (is it stored in the cluster). would it matter what year i get obviously it would have to be the same body style

You will have to swap the flexible printed circuit from your existing instrument cluster into the new one--or the car will not start...
The PATS uses an ID code set at the factory to "marry" the HEC (Hybrid Electronic Cluster) electronics to the PCM. If you change either without having a dealer "remarry" them using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS), or having PATS disabled in the tune, the car will turn over but not start.
Swapping the printed circuit will cause the mileage to be carried over as well.

You can't miss it--it's at the back of the cluster, and is pretty much the same size as the the whole panel.
I don't have a photo showing the circuit board (it's really a flexible circuit panel), however here's the back of the cluster:
The board sits on the four studs at each gauge motor and is held on spring connectors soldered to the board..
Here's a close-up of the back of the fuel gauge:
Here's a pretty good shot of the panel and clips that I found on the web:
