If you have reasonably new tires, I would get the plates soon. Lowering springs with stock plates are known to wear tires down FAST (un-alignment issues).

I have a set on my TL that's lowered 1.5"+ and my buddy doesn't and his TL is lowered about the same and he went through all 4 tires in 5K miles. This will be my first mod on my Cobra. Sometimes even factory suspensions dont always align into tolerance. Definitely a good investment.

The alighnment would have to be WAY off to burn through brand new tires in 5k miles. OP: you don't need them right away, to put things in perspective I had an Eibach prokit on my car without caster camber plates for about 10k miles before I got the plates, the tire wear showed a little but it was nothing drastic.
