COP conversion on high hp builds?
Hey guys, my motor is going in the car next week, but with all these coil packs/spark plug wires running all over the motor its very convincing to convert to COP. There is a guy on corral who sells the harness needed and he has COP's for a good price. Just wanted to check, has anybody tried this conversion with higher hp motors? nothing at all is wrong with my coil pack/wire setup, its just a mess and looks soooo much cleaner with COP. Just wanted to see if this conversion could cause any sort of problem on higher hp motors or anything I should watch out for?? Thanks

There is nothing wrong with that conversion harness. If anything it will deliver a more consistent spark to each cylinder and less likely to have issues because the high voltage responsible for ignition is only traveling down a short metal coiled wire vs through a series of spark plug wires.

I just dont like the idea that I spoke w/ the maker of this harness and he seemed clueless about his product. " I cant guarantee this product on your hp leverl, I have a few members running around that level but will not guarantee it above 500hp, due to variables"
Also, after just putting together my blower/8 rib pulley setup and i would have to take everything back apart to remove the coil pack brackets...no thanks
Thanks though guys

I did the conversion. I did everything right and I still had issues at 6500rpm+. If I had kept CP & wires I really believe I wouldn't have had any issues.
I think there is a reason you don't see COP's in high RPM, & High HP race cars. If I had it to do again, I would not have done it.
That said, It did look good.
