Default T-45 Build Questions

I'll go over the builds a little here for the sake of the project. I have a twin turbo 1999 3.8 I'm working on right now, and also got a complete 2v GT engine (12k miles)/T-45 swap. The 6 previously had a Vortech/cammed, but I ended up wanting to do TT. I'm going to twin turbo the 4.6 with the same turbos I have on the 6 (Precision Billet 5557s .48 a/r) unless somebody thinks thats a bad idea from a specs standpoint... I may even forge/cam the engine while it's out, although I still plan to keep it under 500 rwhp cause it's jsut a street/weekend car.

I have the T-45 transmission apart right now and I'm going to build it to handle some power, sort of like the ProMotion T-45. I have the input shaft out and am sending it to Liberty to have it converted to 26 spline.

My question is what other parts are the weak points of the T-45? I know I can have cryo treating done to the gears, replace shift forks, etc, but I don't know exactly what I should do. I will probably put in all new bearings/synchros since I'm in there anyway and they're not too expensive. It has 90k on it, although the bearings all seem fine.

I know one thing Ive read in passed about is to get stronger forks and carbon synchros.
Id say those are the most weakest points I read about.

Question.. why don't you go with a T56 and have no worries ?
They're strong *** trannys.

id check out the Cobra forum also and see If any info is in there...Search works to a point.

Good Luck with your build

Im not sure if the build would be the same as what I did on my t56 Ive just finished, but use bronze fork pads, instead of the plastic ones, if they dont come with the new forks, carbon blockers, and replaced the stamped steel keys with billit keys.

I'd like a T-56 but it seems like a lot more money to do that swap and plus the transmission itself is what like $2500? All I really need is something to hold up to 500 rwhp (granted, that's quite a bit) or less, but I want a manual.

I've been trying to do a lot of searching but really come up with nothin in the end. I might just call ProMotion and ask them what I can do. I know they sell the parts, but I don't want to pay so much that I could've just bought their 750 hp t-45 for $1650. So I'd like to have less than $900 in parts if I can manage.

Thanks for the replies though. I'm actually a guy that's going to be following through with this stuff. You'd know if you knew me from other forums.

The syncros and shift forks from the t45 and t56 are interchangeable, using the t56 parts is a large upgrade compared to the t45 parts. They do not make aftermarket gear sets for the t45.

Well I've been told by a few people to just not mess with the T-45 and spend a few hundred more to get a TKO or even a little more for a T-56 swap. Then I can sell all 3 of the trannies I have here to make up some of the difference.

How much are they asking for that? I couldn't seem to find a price? And what are other good options? I mean I have everything for the T-45, so the less I'd need the better. I've always wanted a T-56, but idk if I want to drop that much on the swap.
