Default 96 Vert suspension recommendation

Need some input on shocks and struts for a 96 GT convertible. Car has 132,000 miles and still has the original shocks and struts. This is a daily driver that will see limited time at the strip for now but maybe more if I keep the car. No auto crossing. I'm not much into lowering it as the roads around here would kill the under body but I think the springs have had it. I maybe could go few a very small decrease in ride height. My question is should I do coil overs or just regular shocks and struts and some new springs? I plan on tightening up the rest of the rear with sub frame connectors and new upper and lower control arms.
