Caliper Stuck??

Caliper Stuck??
So I was driving in a lot of stop and go traffic and started to smell something. After about 20 minutes into my trip I saw smoke coming from my front left wheel well and my rim is hott to the touch. I then drove it to the mechanics they drove it and told me it's a stuck caliper. He told me I needed new calipers for the front and brake lines. He quoted me $550.
There is no way this is the only way to fix this. Is it ok to just replace one caliper or do I have to get both done? Also why would I need new brake lines? Just seems like the mechanics are trying to screw me as always. Do you think this is my problem? Is there a cheap fix? Thanks in advance!

You could just replace the one side. Puttin a new brake hose on is good insurance when you replace the caliper. Its cheap and basically no extra labor. You could get away with doin just one side. The reason they recommend both is because you now have a new strong caliper on one side and an old crusty one (that still "works") It could cause a pull

Sweet good news. Thanks guys! Ok I found remanufactured calipers at advance auto for $49 each so maybe I should just go ahead and replace both while I am at it. Still much cheaper than If I took it to the mechanic.
I was thinking about just upgrading to SS brake lines in the front when I change out the calipers. Is that ok or do I have to replace the rears with SS lines too?
