Loud annoying Hum?
i have a loud annoying hum coming from my engine it sounds like its coming from the cold air intake but im not sure it only does it when its hot out and even if i tap the gas a little it goes away then comes back when the engine comes back to idle. Its definitely not engine noise just annoying and curious of what it could be..Any ideas???
Thanks

If you just added the cai it's a typical sucking noise. I can't hear it my car but I can in my wifes truck. When you give it a lip gas the sound of the engine drowns it out. If that's not the case no idea haven't heard if intake making a humming noise. maybe it's vibration of some sort

Hey Guys,
I have the same problem. I have the most obnoxious humming coming from the intake region. It started after we cleaned the throttle body and the IAC. I replaced the IAC because it seemed the obvious answer. I tried the regular cheap ones from auto zone and when that didn't work i dished out the money for the OEM Ford one. That didn't fix it either. Still humming away like nobody's business. Ive heard it could be power steering as well. I recently took it in for a regular oil change and they checked all my fluids. They topped off my power steering to the brim which of course is now all over everything. Don't know if overfilling it could cause this issue.
Im at wits ends here. Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be?
Please and thank you.

Need to hear it--if you disconnect the IAC feed tube (block the end going to the intake tube) does the noise change/stop? If not it is not the IAC making the noise.
Is the IAC resonator box still in place?
BTW, there is nothing wrong with the "cheap ones from xxxx". They are made by Hitachi, Nippon-Denso or Wells (all Ford OEM suppliers) and therefore are OEM replacements. I ran the AutoZone unit (made by Wells) for over 50k miles with no problems.
