Remove fuel pump
My 98 GT died today and I think it might be the fuel pump.I am in the process of getting it towed home. Do I have to drop the fuel tank, or is there and access panel under the back seat?

I used to have a 98 Explorer. The second time the fuel pump went out I decided to fix it right and cut a nice access panel out of the floor. I made a nice aluminum cover for it and used some silicone and four sheet metal screws to attach it. I was sick and tired of having to drop the tank. It always pissed me off. They should have made the access panel stock from the factory.

I was able to get a hose in the filler neck and put most the fuel in my Ranger. The stang had 3/4 tank of fuel, which is always the minimum required fuel before a flue pump goes. I dropped the fuel tank yesterday and found the grommet for the filler neck was almost in two pieces. After calling all the parts stores, I called the dealership and they have one. I'm going to get that, the fuel pump, and a new fuel filter. Hopefully, I will be driving my stang this afternoon. I did notice that I am getting some rust on the exterior of the tank. I guess I will keep an eye on that.
