99-04 build
My names is Jason. new to the forum. i am a huge mustang fan. i had a 2000 gt for a few years. basically stock just had full bassani exhaust. sold it last spring and want to get back in the scene. But this time i want to build my car. i have a lot of questions so hopefully can get some good input. i want to start with a 99-04 rolling chasis. put cobra motor in and then twin screw or turbo. the things i need to know are. can i use a v6 chassis or just skip that and find a v8 chassis all ready because everything is there to bolt in a new v8. is it hard to find a good chassis with a blown gt motor or a a chassis with no motor. also where to find one. and what year cobra motor to put in. then is it easier to turbo or twin screw? thanks. trying to build a nasty car for cheaper then just buying a cobra. good running cobra in my area go for 10-18,000 plan to find a rolling chassis for 1,000-2,000 motor and trans for 4,000-6,500. turbo/twin screw for 4,000 then comes suspention later on thanks jason

A v8 rolling chassis would be better as it's suspension is a hair better than the v6's. 03/04 motor and tranny are your best bet, twin screw would be easier since the 03/04 comes with a blower, also the twin screw is easier to mount even if you don't go with an 03/04. Turbo's are nice but are a tad harder to mount, but if you don't mind it, plus the premium, they are a great power adder.

What you just listed is 12,500.. If you want a fast car just get a blown GT... I have a supercharged 2000 mustang GT that dynoed 386 RWHP.. and I paid 7,300 for it already supercharged and it's in great shape. had it for 2 years. Fun as hell to drive. Unless you're building a drag car, Id go the same route I went. 7,300 and u can jump in it and drive.. vs. 12,500 and u gotta part togetha all kinds of different stuff and possibly end up costing more. 400 rwhp range is a very fun car!!! way more fun then the 2000 stock GT u had. Then again u may not get lucky like me and find a good price on a car that's supercharged and actually in great shape. But Id try that route first. (unless ur building a drag car)

buy a cobra, i am building my 99 GT that i bought new. if i didnt just love the car i have owned since 99 i would just buy a cobra. ssbc big brake kit, sub frame connectors , kenne bell , forged everything , custom ground bullet cams , cnc heads by total engine airflow, 65lb injectors , clutch , rear end , i could write a small book with all the stuff i had to buy to do it right, the list is endless !!! tons of money invested,in the end i will have spent around 23,000 dollars. 7800.00 on the block and heads around 7400.00 on supporting mods , plus the brakes 3000.00 , kenne bell kit 5000.00. and there is more. buy a cobra!
