Default Black Stang, Hot Humid Weather

Dont know how many of you guys own a black stang and stay down south but, my stang runs slightly hotter than normal in the day time. Which leads up to my question what can I do to keep my car cool as possible I put in a 180 degree thermostat. I put 50/50 antifreeze in after I did a coolant flush is there anything else I can do?

I know what you mean about the heat in the sounth as I'm from mississippi.

if your using your stock guage it may look like its hotter than it really is. when my stock guage reads on the A-L my autometer guage read right at 210. My car usually runs 180-190 all the way to work (outside temp is 70) and around 200-210 in the afternoon (outside temp 100).

What is your stock guage reading and do you know if your fan is kicking on?

Better define "slightly hotter". My '03 runs about 1/2 to 3/4 needle width hotter on hot afternoons as compared to my 05:00 run to Jacksonville.

Did you have the fan on/off speeds in the tune changed when you installed the 180° thermostat? If not then it will make no difference in engine heat any time the fan is needed (idle, low speeds, high load/RPM at lower speeds, etc.).

These are the cooling fan related scalar values:

The top three values define the condition under which the fan will be run at high speed regardless of ECT; speed under 40mph, and load over 60% and rpm > 1808. Over 40mph running the fan serves no purpose as there's already 7500cfm of air moving through the radiator.

The next two (highlighted) define the ECT at which the fan runs at high speed, why there are two is a mystery to me.

The next two are the speeds at which the fan turns off and back on (somewhat mislabeled as it is both low and high that are being enabled/disabled). As set the fan will turn off at 38mph, and come back on at 33mph. This is a firmware based hysteresis that prevents the fan from switching off and on rapidly at a single speed.

The last two (highlighted) are the low speed off and on ECT settings.

In the first column are the settings in my current tune, the second column shows the stock settings. You can see that I have only reduced the values by 16°; this is because when I dropped them by the more intuitive 20° difference between the t-stats the damned fan ran just about all the time and was annoying.

I am in daytona beach for school and I always run at 1/2 on the gauge and my temp pid on the tuner always hovers around midway. Honestly I am more worried about my black paint! How do you keep it clean?

if you have more water in your radiator then antifreeze itll run cooler but dunno if thats something you wanna risk for when winter rolls around

If it does not cool properly with a 50/50 mix then there is something wrong with the cooling system--get it fixed. Increasing the percentage of water in the coolant will be at best only a band-aid...
