good choice , plastic is a last resort in my opinion. especialy in that car, that is a double curved glass , a plastic window can only come out flat . looks terrible

Well I just dropped my car off and I ended up going plastic. $250 was in my pocket and $400 wasn't. Oh well we will see how long it lasts. He is going to sew it into my old rear curtain. I looked at his work in the shop and it all was real high quality. It will be done later today. He even gave me a ride home. Great service. The same guy did the top on this car two years ago for the previous owner.

i hope it comes out ok , i would be a bit concerned about using the old portion of the window. they make a heat sealed plastic version of that window. the guy could have got that for you, there was no need to use your old stuff. make sure he used a heavy plastic window viny sheet that is made for that, not some boat top plastic junk off of a roll. if he got the right small sheet it should say CAL-GLASS or KAL-GLASS in the bottom corner. its been so long since i have done that, there is no need to with that car . the material around where the glass use to be is not flat any longer , i can only think he will never get that window smooth, i can only see a bad outcome . i hope i am wrong for your sake

I went and picked it up and it turned out great. it is the KAL GLASS insert. When I got there he told me to go have a look. When i walked around the car i thought he had put a glass window in it. I had to touch it to find that it was vinyl. Cost me $250 out the door. I was told that as long as i used water with a microfiber to prevent scratches it should last for a few years at least. I would recommend this guy to anyone in the San Diego area. He does great work. He started doing this type of work when he was 15 years old and he's 37 now. Even the local dealerships are using him for warranty work.

im glad to hear that, i know there are a few shops in my area that would just distroy that job. im glad he took the time to do the job right, if he put the KAL-glass you will be good for a while. when you said he was sewing it in i was worried. there are alot of shops out there that are hacks, im glad you were able to hook up with the right one. its funny because it sounds like you described me, im 44, i started when i was 16, i do warranty work for two ford dealers , two honda dealers and a vw dealer in my area.
