Default Header Help!!

Ok so im new to the forums and ive always been told these are the best ways to get advice on anything Mustang related. So a year ago i decided to be a cheap **** and buy some UPRshorty headers that i hought were the sh*t. hat was until they started going bad. Im always having leak issues and i've decided its time to buy good quality headers. My quesion for anyone who can help is what are the best shorty headers for a 2002 Musang GT. Im lookng for headers that wont warp and are just all around good headers that kkeep the heat down.. HELPPP lol.

Don't make the same mistake I did, don't waste your money on shorty headers

short tubes will gain you nothing, long tubes or bust.

I agree with these guys about the long tubes. MAC and BBK make good budget headers.

BBK are good quality, as far as strength and durability, but are not the best fit (and by that i just mean how they actually fit into the small space, NOT that they leak by any means). If I had to do another long tube install, I would most definitely go with MAC headers. I think they're slightly cheaper and are easier to install, a bit flexible and a better fit. Only difference is they don't look as nice as BBK's, but who gives a ****?? Also, I had problems getting my EGR tubing to fit on my BBK's.

PIECE OF ADVICE FOR ALL HEADER INSTALLS: I strongly recommend taking the EGR off FIRST and trying to thread the nut on your new long tube bung BEFORE installing the headers. I had to use the jaws of life just to get the damn nut on there and halfway tightened. I then covered it in high temp ultra copper gasket maker and called it a day, all because I didn't take this precautionary step first...

As to heat issues ceramic coated (real coating like Jet-Hot, not ceramic paint), or stainless steel will produce the least amount of radiant heat.

Just some food for thought. A buddy of mine spent a premium on his BBK shorty headers for his F-150 and they only last about a year before they cracked. Not saying this will happen to everyone, just his experience.... they sure were purdy though.

For the OP, I would either put the stock manifolds back on, or spend the money on long tubes w/ a shorty mid pipe.
