95 gt t-5 in a 96 gt question
Doing a manual swap into what is currently an automatic, I got myself a t-5 since they seemed to have a good rep. However, I came to realize that the t-5 I pulled out of the 95 gt does not quite match up in terms of how it operates. Has anyone done a similar swap before that can tell me what I need? I have gotten the clutch and break pedal assembly, clutch cable, tranny, and drive shaft. Still looking for a shifter since the donor car was missing it. From what I understood from my reading tonight, the t-5 does not employ a neutral safety switch, so how do I bypass that? Or am I just not understanding this correctly? What else do I need?

Lol... you are trying to mate a tranmission and a motor that does not match... it it possible... idk but probably not worth it if you even can make it work....
the t-5 is designed for use in a pushrod motor... your 96 has an overhead cam motor.....
sell the t-5 and buy a t-45 or tr3650.

if you can find a bellhousing that adapts the T5 to the 4.6 id say go for it.
youll need a new slip yoke too 28 vs 31 spline.
but a T5 is about 15lbs lighter than a T45 and a hundred times easier to work on, i know ive had them both apart.
plus with a T5 you can play with the 1st and OD gears, my old T5 im my 95 had a 2.95 1st and a .79 OD, LOVED it <3

so i am an idiot...I thought the car was a 95, I had been directed by the people at the junk yard to a "95" in their lot, but I didn't check the date in the door, or the engine or anything. Lucky for me. because turns out I pulled a t-45 which matches up and I can put it in. YAY! For once being careless saved me time and money.
