where did you get the motor from?

did you install cams? anything else?

somethings deff rotten in Denmark here...
Got the engine from 123 Engines. motor came fully put together all I did was put it in and put on the accessories, wire harness, etc.

Engine ground? Just one of the ground wires bolted to the fame from the engine? I think I have one or two of those connected.

i would check a wiring harness if i remember correctly some of the wiring connector changed wire locations on the sensor plugs.
That might be the problem your crank sensor could be plugged in but not reading correctly due to the sensor on the 5.4L. you will also need a tune or it will run like crap.
also i would check compression as you never know if they torqued the heads correctly.

Looks like a cool swap man.
Hopefully you get it all figured out! Goodluck!

why would he need a tune on a motor that has < 20 more hp then his stock one?...

Im using same harness same sensors everything is exactly the same. Guess I will just have to call a mechanic over here. Sucks because I have made it this far by myself. Im going to put my 42# injectors in today change the fuel filter and add some fresh gas and see what happens. Guess I will finish putting on the exhaust too because the neighbors cant like the sound.

the 5.4l motor has different sensor and runs different then a 4.6l. there for will need a tune to run correctly when using the stock ecu.

I work for ford and know that you don't just go to a different engine and expect it to run correctly with out changing parameters in the ecu.

That's obviously not true since lots of people have done 5.4L swaps (2v) and 4.6L 4v swaps using 100% stock GT wiring with no issues.

I'd do a compression test to make sure the motors got good compression, then look into your crankshaft position sensor, check curcuits. Have you been working on cars long? Maybe just hire a mechanic.

Let us know

Good idea. Just put a motor in a Kia Spectra. I missed one ground wire and it wouldn't even crank over.

I did a 4V swap from a damned lincoln Mark VIII and the stock GT tune was fine. Don't think it's a tune issue.

OP, try unplugging the MAF and starting it. Had a similar issue with an 89 Iroc-Z. Turned out that the MAF had gone out on it. Unplugging it should verify.
