Default What to look for when purchasing used Vortech?

Hey Guys, I know there is a link to " buying a used supercharger for $1500" but I cant find it. Anyhow, I have a 03 GT Auto (complete stock). Ive decided to start piecing together a used Vortech V2 S-trim.

Now from what I understand, I need the supercharger head unit, inlet hose tubes, injectors, chip/tune?, fuel pump, oil lines?, and intercooler. Is this everything and Im positive Im using the wrong words or terms so please bare with me.

What is the most important thing to look for when buying a used vortech unit?
And if it happens to need to be rebuilt, how much would that cost if sent it to Vortech for a rebuild?

Oh and I plan to drive my mustang often and I wont be racing at the track. Just want more power and cant affored $3k for a new one. I definitely want my stock motor to be reliable enough to take on an occasional trip to Vegas.

If possible can anybody tell me what a decent price is and what a rip off price would be, so when im searching I know what to look for? Also Im in no rush, so I dont mind spending a lil more on a new head unit if I can still buy the rest used and save $$.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou!

if you go to the "pipes, boost, and juice" section its a sticky in there. head units can be found for, if ur lucky, 600, but most around 700-1000. look to see if theres any damage on the impeller. When building it youre going to need the head unit, inlet pipes, discharge pipe (you do not need that if youre going intercooled), bracket assembly, injectors, fuel pump, maf, and oil feed, and return lines. I believe its 500 and change for a rebuild

"What to look for when purchasing used Vortech?"

At the risk of sounding facetious: "A new one", unless the used one is dirt cheap...

I really think I got lucky with mine. I paid 650 bucks for mine (thanks Kerns). Out of all the issues that I had with my build the S/C has not been one of them. Good luck my man!!

I found the link I was looking for but after going over it a bit. Looks like you still need to spend close to $2k for parts, plus I would need someone to install so Im only saving about $1k.

GTR Performance, gave me a quote of $3300 for a brand new Vortech minus the intercooler. And a layaway plan so Im thinking of just going that route. It would be about $4k flat including install and dyno test before and after the install. Looks like i better start saving either way.

It may be easier to just trade my 03 in for a down payment on a 11 GT and make payments again.
I just saw a black 2011 GT with 30k miles, certified 100k warranty for $26k.
