Default Shifting gears at high rpm problem.

First hello everyone,

My car has always shifted like crap since I got it. I have a 03 GT that has been modified to replicate a Saleen. There has been all kinds of stuff modded to this car, It has a high performance clutch and don't know the name of it at this sec, but I may find out later and let you know, Anyway, Personally, it feels like the clutch is grabbing way to early in the pedal, and I dont know if that can be adjusted. Like in the morning, It wont just go into reverse, I have to put it in 1st and bump the clutch, and then it will go in Reverse. Also the major problem and the reason why I came here, is If I get on it, and tach it up high the damn thing will not come out of gear until the rpms drop far enough. Its rediculous, Im talking maybe 2 seconds. Im mean its really locked in there, I could probably force it out, but I shouldn't have to. So, I'm thinking the clutch needs adjustment to give the pressure plate more clearance?? Why would the higher rpms keep the shifter "locked" where I cant pull it out without ripping it out. Thanks for any info

Thats pretty normal. My gt did that all the time, and my Mach 1 does it every now and then.

Do you have an aftermarket clutch quadrant and adjuster? If the tranny is having problems going in and out of gear at high RPMS thats usually a sign on syncho wear.

Both have happen to me. The reverse problem is normal. The high rmp shift issue unfortunately called for a tranny rebuild.

i had a friend who was locked out at high rpm's and he replaced his trans and it didn't change anything, it turned out that his pressure plate bolts has come loose, so before you change your trans or have it repaired check your PP bolts, that of course requires removing the trans but this could possibly be your problem i have no idea, but just a thought for you GL

Thanks for the replies. I need to change the throw out bearing anyway, so I will check it then.
