battery won't hold charge longer than 2 days
on my 2000 gt the battery won't hold charge longer than 2 days. if i let it sit more than 2 days it's dead. i've replaced the alternator & battery. the only possible thing i can think of that might draw is related to a new head unit i installed a few months ago. i wanted to continue to use the factory amps and installed the 5 volt regulator that crutchfield mentions below to avoid the on/off pop. i also have to take a look at the ground cables just to cya. any suggestions would be appreciated. thank you.
"Most factory Ford stereos only send a 5 volt turn on signal to the sub amp. When an aftermarket stereo is installed, there may be a turn on/off pop from the subwoofer. All aftermarket radios have 12 volt remote outputs. To avoid the pop, you will need to add a 12 volt to 5 volt regulator in line on the remote lead. This item can be purchased at any Radio Shack, the part number is 276-1770."

I've had 2 12"s and a aftermarket deck for a few years without a problem...
Are you sure it's related to your stereo? I actually had something very similar happen, and thought the same thing, except it ended up being a short in my traction control.

May be unrelated, but I know that several years ago, there was an issue with the S197 stereo systems. Appearantly, they amps would stay "on" when the key was shut-off with the music still playing. I think it is one of those things, where the music doesn't actually stop playing, until the drivers door was opened.
I think there was a TSB on this issue, so may want to look it up.
