Alarm goes off after opening door?
I've been having an annoying problem the last few days with my car. I'll unlock the car with the fob but the second I open the drivers side door the alarm will go off. It only happens a third of the time though. I can't turn it off with the fob and the only way I can disable it is to disconnect the battery for a few seconds with the key in the ignition and the door open. It's left me frustrated and I would appreciate any way to entirely disable the alarm (fuse or anything?).

Look for a bypass button behind the hood release. I have read that you can ground both the wires going to the button to disable the alarm but I have not yet tried it. I just got my alarm problems fixed. I had some loose connections.

I just disables the horn for the alarm. I only recently invested a ton of money doing a tune up, detailing, clutch replacement and transmission repair. Not sure if I can afford going to a Ford dealership for a repair currently. Still I have no clue as to how much it could cost.

There was no factory alarm system for any '96 through '04 Mustang, however there was a Ford branded dealer installed alarm made by Code Alarm, which was later sucked up by AudioVox. I believe they still offer some support for the Ford branded systems.
They were not extra high-quality, but were not horrible either--AFAIK they were dropped when SecuriLock (PATS) finally got certified by the insurance underwriters.

Just wanted to post an update. Apparently I have to press the unlock button twice before opening the door. Haven't had my alarm go off once since I've started doing this. I'm feeling pretty dmb right about now
