Default Tuned Length

Is there any real difference between tuned length headers and shorty headers? And do tuned length headers need a different mid-pipe to bolt up? Lastly, is there any real difference with tuned or shorties over stock headers?

Thankyou
Bryan,

main reasons i think people go with shorties is they are easier to install than LT's, and they provide a better exhaust note. performance difference will be minimal.

any reason you want to go with shorties vs LT's? either way headers are a PITA to install.

as far as i know, most tuned length and non-tuned length headers attempt to use the same stock mid-pipe location. you'll have to read the descriptions, because there is always exceptions.

a tuned length headers runners are all the exact same length, which helps how the exhaust flows. shorty headers the runners are different lenghts. thats the real difference. i do believe both tuned lenght and shorty headers use the same "stock style" mid pipe location.

as far as installing headers go, its a major PITA to do. if you are planning to do it and havent bought them yet I'd wait and buy longtubes and a shorty mid pipe, that way its truly worth the headache. if you already have them then good luck with the install. the shorty headers i had on my 2000 GT actually quieted my exhaust down some, and I was running the SLP lm1 catback as well. with the shorties look for it to be quieter at idle and itll take some of the rasp away on the top end, its a much better exhaust note.
