Recently I replaced my filler neck grommet on my mustang to solve the leaking tank issue but it seems it has created a new issue. Now when I add gas to the tank it constantly overflows no matter what I do, pump fast or slow, different gas stations, different angles, it doesnt matter it will click like it's full then over flow out of the overflow pipe that runs along side the filler pipe.

I've replaced the grommet before in a friends GT and it didn't have the same problem, I did however notice the end section of the fuel filler neck was missing, would that be the cause of the occasional EVAP leak code and a possible reason behind the constant over flow while filling?

The section at the end in the tank with the spring in it was missing when i removed the neck from the tank for the grommet swap. it broke off where those openings are.
