Bassani or Magnaflow
I've got a 2001 GT and over the summer I'm planning on upgrading my whole exhaust. I want JBA shorties, then I'm not sure whether to go with Bassani X-pipe w/cats and Bassani after-cat or go with a Magnaflow set-up. I want it to sound good, but not obnoxiously loud. Anybody have or heard either of these setups?

I never used an x-pipe but I hear nothing but good things about them. After reading things in this forum by all these stang heads, I'll use the x-pipe on my next stang for sure!!!!!

Hi im kinda new to this forum but i have a 1998 mustang gt 5 sp. i have recently installed bassani x-pipe w/o cats along with 2 chamber flows. It is a very specific sound on the mustang. It sound very good. One thing i noticed though when installing is that i had to use MIL eliminators b/c it was much more free flowing than stock. go with BASSANI.

I just got the Magnaflow x-pipe w/cats and Magnaflow (not Magnapack) catback installed yesterday. The car sounds deeper, not louder for the most part. The only time it is loud is where it drones 1900-2100rpm; very small range. Other than that, it's just a pretty sound. I've heard Bassani x-pipes hang lower than stock, and I've heard some people complaining about the cats burning out early. I've never had Bassani to know first hand but I can tell you the Magnaflow x-pipe is great for lowered cars b/c they do not hang lower than stock at all. Other than that, I've heard great things about Bassani; it's a matter of choice. Oh yeah: no MIL eliminators or check engine light for me!

Not necessarily. Some people have gotten h-pipes and x-pipes with cats and had issues with them. If the car thinks the cats are not able to break down the toxins, trust me, you'll get he light.

True, but I haven't seen this happen at all.

Magnaflow asks that you pull the cables off the battery and the light may come on, but it will adjust and everything will be fine. A couple members here had the problem...
