i recently bought an 01 gt convertible. it has a mach 460 system in it. my problem is that even when the car is not running and the switch on, the speed controled volume goes crazy and will go up to full blast in volume. i have heard it could be an amp problem. any ideas would be appreciated.
thanks

Here's an article for adding speed sensitive volume (SSV) to your car.

You can check to see whether you have SSV by, with the radio on, pressing and holding the power **** until the SSV menu comes up.

Regarding the OP, ford radios are notorious for developing flaky volume *****. You can pull the radio, pop off the face plate and try some electronics contact cleaner on the ****.
