It all depends on what kinda money you're willing to spend. I 4v 5.4 would be the biggest waste of money.

A stock block 5.0 built to max out the block (500-550hp) is very cheap to do and slap a carb on it to save on the EFI stuff and wiring mess.

A forged and blown 4.6 is the cheapest route for the most power.

But If you got money to blow and want to stay NA then a Dart block 351W base is the way to go.

To give a good comparison my old 2v 4.6 with a Novi 2000 made 700rwhp on 23lbs of boost at a cost around $12k. The car in my avitar was a 418ci Dart block with brodix heads and made 700ish rwhp on motor and 1150rwhp on a dual shot and cost me around $16k.

This just shows how much of a child you are, and proves them all right that you had no real intention. You come on here with 10 posts and act like a douche... and thats how you will be treated.

What the hell was that about. Ppl with first hand experience with these different motors actually came in and gave you the right advice on what to do and the way to do it without spending needlessly. Take it for what its worth but it seems like instead of taking the advice in you got butthurt and offended instead for whatever reason. There is a deep aftermarket for the 4.6 2v take advantage of it or not its your pocket.

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but people on this forum don't always have the most tact. There are a few that I always see help, and a few that are usually jerks, the jerks tend to stand out a bit more.

Anyways, both swaps would be very expensive, I've been looking at doing a Navigator swap myself, and I'm still not 100% sure I really want to. There are a lot of things to worry about, such as getting a set of headers custom made, and trying to figure out what you're going to do for an intake so that the power curve isn't completely useless. There are a few other forums where multiple people have done the swap. If you're going to go that route, I suggest saving up and getting a turbo as well. In the long run, it will be much easier and cheaper to go a forced induction route on your stock motor.

I agree with most of the posts here... a 5.0 ohv into a New Edge is ridiculous, and a 5.4L 4v modular is expensive, and frankly, will barely fit between the strut towers. You can fit a 4.6L 4v with basically no mods to the car, or do a built 4.6L 2v with a blower, as stated, for a lot less money. Being "different" for the sake of it is just wasted money. Your best bet is probably a Terminator 4.6L 4v swap. I saw one recently pan-to-blower for $5,000... if I had the cash, I'd have bought it.

I'm with zero here, I'm building my 96 cobra with a 4.6 stroker...and 90% of the struggle thus far is finding room. Its just jam packed in this thing man, slidding a 5.4 in doesn't sound like something i'd want to do. Especially long tube header install. jesus.
