If its close, it wont cost anything to go and look. Take for a drive. Once down the road, see if you can pinpoint were the noise is coming from. An exhaust leak can cause a nasty sounding tick. Might be something simple. If it sounds internal, I'd keep looking.

Although after reading the description, daily driver to school, makes me think a hot rod kid is the owner and a lot of them 90k miles might be rode hard.

Says about to have a child, but sure knew alot more about that engine when I text them and asked if it could be an exhaust leak or knock....

what do you mean by this. if you want an 05 i wouldnt waste my time and money buying a new edge, then having to sell it then find another s197, plus your most likely going to be losing a good amount of money

Modular engines do not have lifters. They need to find a new mechanic.

Where are you? Saw an '97 Cobra with a BUILT (forged) 4.6L for $6,000 in Houston area.

But, if you want a S197, look around for one, you don't go "in steps" to the car you want. That's financial retardation.

They are called hydraulic lash adjuster, but they are in essence lifters.

I am not trying to get into an 05 in a few weeks. Here is my situation, I drive a 2008 F250 4x4 Lariat with a Spartan 250 tune. It runs mid 13's in a quarter, and pulls my 26' boat just fine. I get avg 15mpgs @ 3.80 per gallon right now. I do about 500 miles a week. My brother has a 00 GT and is getting 21 avg mpgs @ 3.35 per gallon. I can avg 6mpg better and its $.40 cheaper... So I would rather pay 5K now and sell later down the road, than wait for an 05..

126.xx week diesel
79.xx week gas

2500 per year in savings..

Granted I will have to pull stuff, but thats the difference

I personally wouldn't get it... you can easily get an 03 or 04 with no ticking for that price.
And I wouldn't get an 05 either. You really don't want the first year of any new or major upgraded model.
