T45 transmission install trick. .
Hey guys it's me again.
Well I get the joy to take the brand new trans out of my car and send it back to where I got it. I bought the trans as a "complete rebuild" from an old t45 core and it ran great for about 2,000 miles. Then she started popping out of reverse again this past week, just like the old trans I had. Suprisingly, I called the folks at Smart Parts Auto and told them what my problem was and they told me to take it out and ship it back to them. They would pay shipping both ways and would fix that trans or if it's bad enough that they would send me another one. I was kind of suprised at this as most companies try to avoid their warranties but they actually manned up and stuck to their word. So, needless to say I will be twisting wrenches this weekend.
Taking the trans out isn't a problem at all, the last one came out fairly easily. On the other hand, the install was a royal pain. Since the t45 has the bellhousing made on to the front of the trans it's difficult to put back without the input shaft of the trans rubbing up against the pressure plate. I messed up once before by getting a little ahead of myself and giving the trans a good shove, and thanks to my impatience I got to buy another clutch due to bent forks on the pressure plate

Sooo, what's the trick to gettting this baby back in there smoothly? Seems like no matter which way or position I tried to put it back either the top of the bellhousing would hit the bottom of the car or the input shaft would rub the pressure plate. I know some of you guys are wayy more experienced with these things and any help is appreciated

the motor has a natural tendency to tip forward with no trani on it. not sure if this is the recommended way 
but i put a block of wood under the crank pulley and then jacked it up to tilt the motor back. a cherry picker would also work on the front of the motor.

or you could drop the motor and trans out the bottom by removing the k-member lol
