Default RE: Magnaflow Exhaust Question

I have found an exhaust system for sale and I was wondering if it would fit my car. I believe it will, I just don't want to pay cash and not be able to have it fit up correctly. I have a 98 GT and the purchase would be (Mustang Cobra Magnaflow Magnapack catback w/ Magnaflow O/R Xpipe, off a 96 Cobra).

Am I correct when this exhaust system will fit, other than I might have to add a few hangers? Thanks for your input.

Catback will, X-pipe will not...

Different parts for GT vs. Cobra...

Don't completely agree, isn't the 2V and 4V the same bottom end? The bolt up on the X pipe wouldn't be different for either of the engines. I think the only issue is the exhaust hangers, but I'm trying to find out if someone else has tried this and made it work. Only looking for more options and opinion rather than one person stating something that is half-factual.

So no, my question wasn't answered. Thanks for the post though.

youre kidding right?...

you know where the headers attach to right?

THE HEADS

yes, 4V heads are about 4" wider than 2V heads, so the manifolds and therefore the attachment for the midpipe are going to be in different places...

and FWIW, no the Cobra's have a COMPLETELY different bottom end:

aluminum block, 8 bolt crankshaft with throws on all 5 mains, -3cc pistons

vs

iron block, 6 bolt crank without middle throws, and -11 (NPI) or -17 (PI) pistons

and to answer your other (incorrect) assumption, the hangers on ALL SN95's are the same with the exception of the tail pipe hangers on the rear, 98.5+ mustangs went from sideways to lengthwise hangers

or am i wrong too?

If you know so damned much about it why did you ask the question?

You need to learn more about engines before shooting off your mouth...

There are some folks on here whom you take their advice as fact. Cliff is one of those guys. If he told me my car ran on Ketchup, I'd believe him.

You have over 200 posts here, surely you've read his responses to other questions. His replies are trustworthy.
