Are the front calipers of a 1996 GT interchangable with a 2002 GT?
Hey guys I am working on a 96 GT and want to put the larger dual piston calipers from a 2002 GT on the front. Are the spindles identical? Meaning that the 2002 Bridge will bolt to the 1996 Spindle? Or are the bolt whole spacings different? Rock auto sells the whole caliper with bridge cheap so I figure this would be a cheap upgrade if the spindles dont need to be swapped.
I am doing the same swap on my car and I read that you have to grind the spindle a little.I saw a pair on eBay and that's what the ad said.It said you have to grind 5mm off the mounting plate.
94-04 but you can get just as much stopping power from 11" GT brakes as 13" Cobra brakes...
about the only advantage is that they fill out the wheel better...
I didn't know you could use 11" GT brakes. I wish I knew that earlier. Oh well. Good info.

Depends on which spindles you have. I read that some do and some don't require grinding.
My buddy did my brake swap last Friday. No grinding needed. He said the same thing JRAD,some do some don't.Took him about 90 min and everything came out great.I got D/S rotors,SS brake lines, calipers, pads, and a brake hardware kit.I also painted the calipers.Total parts cost was $190.It was a pretty cheap mod IMO
I'm prob going to be running new edge brakes as well, I don't like the fact of grinding lengths of my studs so the 1 inch spacer will work with 15x3.5 prostars.
