Default Another VATS related issue

Hi all

I posted this over in the 94 forum but i think i will have better luck over here.

I am currently looking at purchasing a 94 GT with a 96 4.6 v8 engine and trans swap.

However there are a few issues:
The car will start and idle for about 3 seconds then die and the theft light will flash repeatedly.

From doing some research ive found this to be VATS related

The owner bought the car and it ran fine until he broke the key off in the original cylinder. He broke the transceiver(not sure HOW it was broken other than the plastic cover being split in two.) removing the cylinder to install a new one and then put in a new transceiver.

From that point on it wont run and is now the veritable Mustang Lawn ornament.

From what i can tell, the new transceiver is not syncing the new key with the gauge cluster and pcm.

The owner has claimed he tried the following: removed the fuse #17 and had no success, tried to relearn the pcm the new key by doing the turn key wait 15 mins trick(cant honestly say i know he did it for sure)

Anyone out there think that they can help? I am working with limited funds rightnow and no local dealers want to touch it being that it is no longer "stock"

Without a working key, you will need to take it to a shop.
(Not that this next applies to you, but if the VATS is out of a late-98 or later, it takes 2 working keys to program another key).

Well it being from a 96 i am thinking that i might be able to take the key stub and fob and tie to to the new transceiver due to it being generic and using the new key to start it.

However i am wondering if the new key signal would still impact the old one negatively?

If you have the transponder part of the key you can zip tie it inside the steering column close to the switch. If is no good you will have to have a new key programmed by a dealer or a GOOD locksmith.
