2001 mustang security light on dash says key is inoperable
hi fellow mustang lovers,
i have a 2001 v6 with approx 127k miles. i took it for an oil change and fuel filter change to then have the car start shaking and quit maybe 100 yards from the shop.
long story short, the fuel pump had to be replaced because it was burnt out, but the car still will not run properly. i've been dealing with the shop who did the oil change and they are having their contracted mechanics look at it. i was last told that the security code showing on the dash says the key is no longer programed. i'm not sure how that would even happen.
anyways, they also told me before that they think it may be an electrical issue. i gave them all the service records i could find for the car including new ignition wiring and spark plugs 15 months ago and new ignition coil and spark plugs 2 1/2 years ago. it's saturday and now the dealer techs are not around to try to reprogram the car.
any ideas what would cause the programing of the key to be lost? should i be concerned that i may have an electrical issue? there have only been 2 places that have worked on the car since my purchase in jan 2005. not knowing who is working on my car now is worrying me a bit. just want to make sure nothing is overlooked.
thanks for your help in advance!

Friend of mines 03 v6 did this to him. Turns out a wire for the alarm had a bare spot/broken.... after tilting the column up and down a few times it magically worked again. That's how he found the wire issue.
